Irwin Mitchell has helped a steel worker obtain compensation after he suffered facial injuries in an accident at work.
Our client was working for a steel company as a steel hand, working in a team of four making steel components.
He suffered facial injuries when part of a tool sheared off and flew up, like shrapnel, hitting him and becoming embedded in his cheek. He was wearing safety goggles at the time but these did not cover his face.
Our client underwent surgery on the day of the accident and a piece of the tool approximately 2cm long and 1cm wide was removed from his cheek, with 12 stitches being put in.
Irwin Mitchell secured £8,500 in compensation for his injuries.
