A man from the West Midlands has received nearly £10,000 in compensation following an accident at work.
The man was injured when his supervisor, who was operating a forklift truck, dropped an industrial bin on his foot.
The impact caused significant soft tissue injury which led to blood blistering and for some of the tissue in his foot to die. It took five months for his for his injuries to recover to the extent that he was able to help with everyday jobs such as shopping, cooking, housework, DIY and gardening.
The man still has some ongoing problems with numbness and is limited in the type of shoes he can wear.
Louise Scott from Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office represented the man and helped prove that the employers had failed to meet their requirements in terms of health and safety and also that his supervisor, that was operating the forklift, did not exercise sufficient care and attention.
Louise Scott said, "This is a good result, my client suffered 5 months of pain, suffering and rehabilitation because a work colleague was not paying sufficient attention to what he was doing and because his employers had not implemented a safe system of work."
The man is now back at work and his employers have safer working practices put into place.
