Our serious injury experts helped Scott to access financial support and rehabilitation after he suffered serious leg injuries when he was hit by a car.
Scott was stood on the pavement when he was hit by a car being driven by an uninsured, unlicensed driver.
His injuries were so serious that he was rushed to hospital where doctors carried out a below-the-knee amputation to his left leg. His lower right leg was saved but was also seriously injured.
How Our Client Liaison Team Helped Scott
Scott and his family contacted us and we offered support through our client liaison team. We focused on Scott’s immediate needs, including how we could help with changes to the family home. The only bathroom was on the first floor and Scott couldn’t climb or descend the stairs.
We were able to secure a care package that provided Scott with the treatment he needed, plus the funds necessary to build a self-contained ground floor annex at the family home with a bedroom and bathroom.
Early interim compensation payments also allowed Scott to access private surgery and a range of equipment such as wheelchairs. He was one of the first people in the UK to wear a bionic foot, which was fitted at a clinic in South Manchester.
What The Future Holds
Scott is now studying at Salford University and is optimistic about what the future has in store.
“I am so lucky I had such a strong team of people around me, including Mum, who fought hard with my lawyer to ensure I received the best possible treatment.” Scott Wall
