Our client was injured in a road traffic accident on 12 June 2008. He was knocked from his motor cycle by a car. He suffered a fractured collarbone, injuries to his knee and a psychological injury.
Our client was able to get back to work within a short period of time, but found that he suffered ongoing pain and stiffness as a result of his injuries. He occupied a top position in a very lucrative industry in the Middle East, and found that his injuries interfered significantly with his ability to undertake the strenuous travelling requirements of his job. He in turn felt that this impacted upon his ability to perform at his job and affected his chances of promotion.
Prior to the accident, our client had held a very senior position in the UK special forces and was extremely physically fit. He regularly competed in triathlons and marathons and enjoyed climbing, kayaking and skiing at the highest levels. Following the accident, he was unable to do any of these things.
Our client's case was previously handled by another firm of solicitors, which went into administration in March 2012. The case was taken over by Irwin Mitchell in April 2012. The previous solicitors had not considered the effect of the accident upon our client's career and the claim had been valued as modest. Irwin Mitchell successfully settled his in November 2012 for over £200,000.
