Irwin Mitchell has assisted a man from Oldbury with a claim for compensation after he sustained injuries after falling down a faulty manhole on a petrol station forecourt.
The man was walking along the forecourt of a Murco petrol station when a manhole cover gave way underneath him, resulting in him falling down the manhole. As he attempted to get out, our client scraped his ankle on the broken manhole, resulting in severe bruising and lacerations.
The man was required to take a course of painkillers and required assistance from his family with getting about and completing household tasks for a number of weeks. Although his injuries have now healed, he has been left with permanent scarring on his ankle.
Reiss Matthews, a personal injury specialist based in the Birmingham office, dealt with the claim and secured a five figure payout in an out of court settlement for the client, in compensation for the pain and suffering caused.
