Irwin Mitchell’s specialised road traffic accident team has helped a woman claim compensation after she was involved in a car accident.
On 14 February 2012, our client was stationary on a road in Derby and waiting to turn right when a vehicle collided with the rear of her car.
As a result of the impact, our client suffered immediate neck and shoulder pain and attended Burton A&E for x-rays. It was confirmed that there was no bone injury and she was later discharged with pain killing medication.
Our client decided to contact Irwin Mitchell’s specialised road traffic accident team and one of our experienced legal professionals, Mike Dodd, was able to deal with her claim. She was referred for physiotherapy and an examination with an orthopaedic surgeon.
The orthopaedic surgeon diagnosed her as having suffered a
soft tissue injury to her neck and a frozen shoulder which would require steroid injections to help her recovery.
The treatment was all arranged through Irwin Mitchell with no cost to the client, and she went on to make a full recovery within 18 months of the accident. Our client was a stoic individual and in turn took little time off work as she managed to fit the treatment in during her spare time.
On the client’s behalf, Mike Dodd contacted the insurer of the other driver who conceded that they were responsible for the accident. An initial offer of £2,100 was received, but this was rejected and it was necessary to issue court proceedings for the client.
Following commencement of court proceedings further negotiations took place and Mike was able to secure £8,000 in compensation for our client in an out of court settlement.
