Irwin Mitchell Solicitors has secured £100,000 in compensation for an NHS Health Care Assistant who was injured at work. Our client, Amy, was working for a hospital in the Midlands when she slipped on the ward and sustained serious injuries to her knee.
Amy’s injuries were so severe that it has taken considerable determination over a number of years, for her to finally regain her independence and return to work on a part-time basis. However, the severity of the injuries meant her future was not secure.
Serious Injury Solicitor Ann Houghton from our team in the Birmingham, who represented Amy’s case, commented “Amy has been fully committed to her recovery however, the reality is that she may require further surgery in the future and need more assistance. This award included compensation for lost earnings during her recovery period, money for the care and assistance provided to her by her husband and future loss of earnings, amongst other things. It will allow her to pursue further remedial surgery and provide her and her family with security and peace of mind about the future.”
Amy said “I do not know what I would have done without the advice and support from Ann during the past years. She was always at the end of the phone for me whether I was up or down. Without Ann I would have given up before now but she made me realise there was a case and why I should carry on. Thank you.”
