The specialist Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell has assisted a man in securing compensation after a road traffic accident.
As a result of the accident, our client suffered fractures to both his right and left leg and he required surgery to both legs to fix the factures using plates and metal work. He later required a bone graft.
Despite the surgery he was left with a leg length discrepancy and ongoing symptoms as a result of the fractures.
Our client had an initial brief period off work and then returned to work on a phased basis working his way back up to full time. Although he was able to return to his previous employment he wasn’t able to progress as he would have done had it not been for the accident and the type of work he could do was limited.
A claim was brought by our client with the help of Kate Campbell of Irwin Mitchell's Serious Injury Team in Birmingham.
Kate was able to secure £297,000 in compensation as an out of court settlement. This sum included a loss of earnings claim, a claim for future surgery, a claim for specialist footwear and a claim for assistance with some tasks.
Kate Campbell said "As a result of his accident this man has been left with ongoing difficulties which have impacted his life in every way but most significantly in his work place. The amount received reflects the fact that he is unlikely to be able to progress in his career as he would have done but for his accident. Hopefully the funds received will offer him some security for the future."
