Our workplace injuries team have succeeded in recovering damages for a woman injured in an accident at work.
The accident happened when the woman slipped on a wet floor in the reception area of her work place. As a result, the woman sustained a spiral fracture to the left ankle which required manipulation and setting in a cast.
Our client was unable to weight bear for several weeks following the accident and was reliant upon her family for personal care and assistance with the housework. She spent five months off work recovering and required extensive physiotherapy.
The woman’s employer’s insurers accepted liability for the accident and Nicola Perrott of our Leeds office successfully negotiated a settlement in the sum of £11,000. The damages awarded cover our client’s initial injury, her lost earnings and the additional costs she incurred whilst in recovery.
The accident highlights the need for employers to ensure that traffic routes within the workplace are safe for employees to pass along and that they are not allowed to become slippery.
