Irwin Mitchell’s specialist Personal Injury team has assisted Mr I to obtain compensation after he suffered an accident at work sustaining severe crushing injuries to his feet and ankles.
At the time of his accident Mr I was a construction worker working at a large site in Greater London. During a break the claimant sat down on a heavy steel beam which he had not realised had not been secured as usual. The beam rolled forward, knocking Mr I to the ground and crushing both his feet and ankles.
As a result of the accident Mr I sustained severe crushing injuries to his right foot, dislocation of all the toes and a fractured left foot and ankle.
Liability was admitted and the claimant received in excess of £100,000 in compensation. This covered damages for his injuries, medical expenses, loss of earnings and the care and assistance he needed following the accident.
Lisa Fairclough of Irwin Mitchell’s Serious Injury Team who represented Mr I in his claim said “The claimant was badly injured in the accident and was forced to retire earlier than planned. I am pleased to have been able to help Mr I with his claim and whilst the damages that we have recovered on his behalf can’t turn back the clock they can at least help him have some degree of financial security in his later years”.
