Irwin Mitchell's specialist personal injury team acted for a client who was injured whilst attending BBC Gardeners' World Show at the Birmingham NEC in 2011.
Our client was having a picnic on "picnic hill" at the event. As she walked down the hill, she slipped on the wet grass and suffered a fractured ankle.
She was taken from the scene by ambulance and underwent surgery to her right ankle. She was non weight bearing for 6 weeks and required a wheelchair. After a course of physiotherapy, she gradually returned to her normal activities, although she is left with some stiffness in the ankle and aching in cold weather.
A claim was intimated against the NEC and the matter passed to BBC Haymarket Exhibitions Ltd as organisers of the event. They admitted liability for the client's accident and agreed to pay the client £7,500 in compensation together with payment of her legal costs.
If you've been injured due to a slip or trip, our personal injury lawyers could help you secure compensation. See our Slip & Trip Claims page for more information.
