Compensation has been successfully secured by Irwin Mitchell’s specialist head injury team for a cyclist who sustained a head injury when she was knocked off her bicycle by a car. She was hit when the car turned into her path, not far from her home.
Our client who was 72 at the time, sustained a life threatening head injury as a result of the accident. The Defendant admitted liability and was convicted of careless driving early on, allowing our legal team to secure early interim payments to fund rehabilitation at home. There were however arguments from the Defendant in relation to the client’s failure to wear a cycle helmet.
The injury has left her with cognitive and personality changes as well as memory and fatigue problems. Despite this, she has made a remarkable recovery. Jane Horton, of our specialist head injury team in Leeds was able to secure a six-figure compensation payment which will provide the client with ongoing rehabilitation and support for the rest of her life.
