Irwin Mitchell's specialist Personal Injury team has assisted a man "M" to obtain compensation after he was knocked off his bike on a pedestrian crossing.
Irwin Mitchell took over M’s claim from another firm of solicitors after he had been advised that they could not continue the case on the basis that the Defendant was denying liability.
M had been crossing Otley Road on his bicycle. There was a green man light signalling for him to proceed. As M began to cycle across the road, he was hit by the Defendant driver who was turning right, despite the traffic lights signalling for him to stop. M sustained a broken right leg and required an operation to pin it.
With the help of Cathryn Godfrey in the Serious Injury team, further investigations were carried out in relation to the circumstances of the accident and the claim was settled by negotiation with the Defendant’s solicitors. M received £4,500 in compensation for the accident.
