Irwin Mitchell's specialist Workplace Accident team has assisted a man to obtain compensation after he was injured whilst working on a construction site.
Bill, a steel erector, was working on a construction site. A chain was being used to pull some equipment from an area of the site; the chain had been attached to a digger by a colleague of Bill's. The chain snapped and struck Bill's leg.
He suffered a broken leg and went on to develop post traumatic stress disorder and depression.
Irwin Mitchell was able to obtain an interim payment which enabled Bill to have therapy which he found extremely beneficial.
Bill's employers accepted liability for the accident and agreed to pay him £51,000 in compensation for his injuries, the care and assistance he required and his loss of earnings.
