Our client was working with 2 other colleagues to create a wall cavity which was intended to be filled with concrete.
While our client was on a break, another contractor instructed others to fill the wall with concrete without informing the 3 colleagues.
When they returned from their break, our client and his colleagues noticed that the wall was bowing and attempted to prop it back up. However, the wall gave way and collapsed on top of our client.
Although our client was wearing all of the protective clothing provided for him, the materials that fell with the wall took the skin off of the backs of his legs and struck his body including his head, back and side. The force of the blow also caused our client to hit his head on a scaffolding pole.
Thankfully, our client managed to free himself from the collapsed wall but suffered injuries which caused weakness in his left hand side, and a loss of taste and smell, as well as various cuts and bruises.
Irwin Mitchell solicitors supported the man throughout his claim and successfully reached an out of court settlement in excess of £28,000.
