Herefordshire Rugby Player Receives £166,000 Following Road Traffic Collision

Irwin Mitchell has successfully secured compensation for a 30 year old man from Herefordshire who was seriously injured in a high speed collision on the A440 in Birmingham.

As a result of the accident, our client sustained serious injuries including a complex fracture and dislocation of the hip and damage to the sciatic nerve in addition to various injuries to his knees, ribs, spine, shoulder and ankle.  He also suffered various psychological effects including anxiety as a result of the trauma of the road traffic crash.

Prior to the accident our client led a very active life which included his passion of rugby which he played and coached.  Due to the serious injuries he suffered he has been unable to return to playing rugby and has struggled to return to work.

Irwin Mitchell secured compensation of £166,000 in an out of court settlement.

Hilary Wetherell, Partner and Ann Hunter, Solicitor from the Birmingham office Serious Injury team represented the claimant. Hilary commented

“This was a particularly difficult case as our client knew that he faced a number of further and increasingly more complex operations later in life such was the severity of his hip injury and yet was young and very determined to lead as active a life as possible.  This award should ensure that he is able to access any further specialist treatment and further surgery as soon as he needs it”.
