Our client, a 72 year old female, was walking along a Sheffield street on 29 March 2010. A number of large black wheelie bins had been left on the footpath and as our client walked around the bins, she stepped onto the kerb which crumbled beneath her foot causing her to fall sideways and land heavily in the road causing her to sustain injury.
A claim was issued to the City Council on 21 July 2010 and liability was admitted after a period of 2 months.
Our expert team obtained medical evidence which confirmed that she had sustained fracture to her arm. As a result of her injuries, our client required a period of sling immobilisation followed by intensive physiotherapy treatment. The medical evidence also confirmed that she would always continue to have slightly restricted right shoulder movements together with some difficulty in daily activities such as undressing, particularly with small buttons and difficulty with the heavier housework tasks.
Our Public Liability team settled this claim on behalf of the client, and damages were secured to the sum of £10,300.
