We helped a hospital porter based in the South East to recover £4,500 in compensation for a
knee injury he sustained at work.
The man had been using an electric truck to move waste bins in the hospital grounds. He had parked the truck and was moving a bin from the rear of the truck when the truck rolled backwards. It was alleged that the handbrake on the truck was faulty and as a result the porter sustained a soft tissue injury requiring physiotherapy treatment.
Our workplace accident team helped the man to make a claim and he was awarded compensation for his injuries.
Employers are obliged to ensure that equipment used by their employees is maintained and repaired efficiently. In this case, the hospital's representatives admitted breach of the duty of care owed to the employee.
