An 87 year old man was shopping at a wholesale DIY store in Rotherham. As he was walking around the store, he tripped and fell over a wooden pallet which was protruding into his path.
Our client fell to the floor and sustained injury to his chest, left knee, buttock and right hip. He was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield the following day where he received treatment for his injuries.
Medical evidence was obtained which confirmed that he had sustained multiple soft tissue injuries. Despite his age, our client walked unaided before the accident. However, as a result of the injuries which he sustained in this accident, he had to walk with a stick and the medical evidence confirmed that on examination two years after the accident, his pain was unlikely to improve and should be regarded as chronic and stable.
Specialists at Irwin Mitchell helped the man to receive £6,000 in compensation as well as payment of the legal costs.
If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident in a shop, supermarket, or shopping centre, our personal injury solicitors could help you to claim compensation. Visits our Supermarket & Shopping Centre Accidents page for more information.
