A man has received £2,500 in compensation after he was attacked by a dog whilst walking along a public footpath.
In August 2009, Mr S, 50 from South Yorkshire, was walking along a public footpath when he was bitten by a dog which was being walked by its owner. Mr S was bitten on his stomach and right ring finger, and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
As a result of the bite Mr S suffered painful and disabling wounds, and continued to struggle with the pain for some weeks after the incident. Mr S also suffered from distressing psychological symptoms following the accident.
Mr S was awarded £2,500 in compensation after the dog owner admitted liability for the accident.
