A young woman from Staffordshire has reached an out of Court settlement, following a road crash in which she sustained multiple injuries.
The accident happened when she was travelling home from University to spend Christmas with her parents. The car that she was travelling in was hit by another vehicle after the driver lost control. The driver had been travelling too fast and was not paying proper attention to the road.
The client sustained fractures to all four limbs and a moderate head injury. She had to undergo many operations and was confined to her hospital bed for many weeks. Due to the seriousness of her injuries and the length of treatment, she had to take time off from her University studies. Thankfully she was subsequently able to complete her degree to an excellent standard and is now hoping to forge a career in the film industry.
Stephen Nye, Partner at Irwin Mitchell in Birmingham dealt with the claim and commented: “My client has done remarkably well considering the seriousness of her injuries. This was a major collision, which could so easily have been avoided, had the other driver simply taken more care. My client can still look forward to a promising career and I have no doubt she will be successful, her work having already attracted awards. This substantial award of damages will enable her to obtain a place at film school and will provide her with financial security in the future, when her injuries may well cause her more problems”.
