Our client suffered an injury to her wrist and knee and was left badly shaken after a road traffic accident.
Anne Marie Bint was working as a lollipop lady, assisting school children across the road, when the accident occurred.
Anne Marie was standing in the middle of the road, displaying her stick when a car drove up behind her, knocking her over. The car driver fled the scene, but was later found by police and convicted of driving without due care and attention; failing to stop after an accident; failing to report an accident; and failing to wait at a school crossing.
Lindsey Houghton, Associate Solicitor, who dealt with Anne Marie’s case, recognised the impact the accident had on her and the counselling required before she was able to return to work on the road where the accident occurred.
The driver’s insurers did not recognise the full impact of the accident on Anne Marie and made a low offer in settlement of her claim. As a result, Lindsey helped Anne Marie to secure a settlement she deserved by taking her case to trial and securing a £4,000 increase in the compensation awarded.
Anne Marie said “I have used Irwin Mitchell before and would use them again.”
