James Berry recently helped his client achieve settlement in a consumer building dispute.
Having instructed a builder to carry out renovation work to her property, our client was forced to have a second builder carry out repair work as a result of the first builder’s defective workmanship. Unsurprisingly, our client refused to pay the builder for his defective workmanship, however, despite the poor workmanship, the builder issued court proceedings and successfully obtained Judgment against our client.
However, on being instructed, James successfully had the Judgment Set Aside arguing that the builder’s work had been defective and that the value of the work carried out did not justify the figure which she was being sued for. James then entered into negotiations with the builder and eventually secured a settlement for his client which brought an end to the court proceedings as well as ending the stress and inconvenience being caused to her.
