Specialist head injury lawyer, Geeta Nayar at Irwin Mitchell's London office, helped a 21-year-old man receive £3.3 million in compensation after he suffered a head injury in an accident on a moped.
Our client, Daniel, had been riding a moped while working for Domino’s Pizza when he was hit. The accident left Daniel with a severe head injury. He is permanently brain damaged and with a significant behavioural disorder. He also suffered multiple fractures including a left sided brachial plexus injury resulting in permanent loss of use of his left arm.
After being discharged from hospital Daniel initially returned to live with his parents but it became increasingly hard to manage him due to the lack of insight into his difficulties. A large interim payment was therefore secured and he was set up in his own home under the care of brain injury support workers and a case manager.
Before the accident, Daniel had planned to join the Royal Marines. A claim was made for loss of future earnings and pension was advanced on the basis of a 22 year military career. A substantial care claim was also recovered.
Head injury lawyer, Geeta Nayar represented Daniel in his claim for compensation. Daniel's settlement was approved at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. Geeta said that the damages would be 'protected in trust for Daniel's long-term care', which the Judge, Mr Justice Gray, said would involve 'a substantial number of hours every day for the foreseeable future.'
