Nicola Handley recently acted for a client who sustained a serious crush injury to his hand in an accident at work.
He was employed as a Finishing Manager for a textile company and was an experienced individual who had over 30 years of experience of working in this sector.
Our client was feeding material into a machine when without warning his hand was pulled into the machine and as a consequence his hand was crushed between the machine’s rollers.
Our client sustained severe tissue damage to his hand and also required surgery to repair muscle damage. However, he was able to return to his previous post at the textile company after a recovery period of 3 months had been completed.
A letter of claim was sent to the Defendants and an early admission of liability was made.
Medical evidence was obtained and following negotiations with the Defendant’s insurers the client’s claim was successfully settled for the sum of £27,500. This settlement was achieved quickly and without the need to issue court proceedings.
