Turning the Page

Earlier this year we invited people to share their positive experiences of disability in our Turning the Page writing competition, run in partnership with KIDS – a leading disabled children’s charity. We were incredibly impressed by the standard of the stories and it was a tricky job indeed for the judging panel to whittle down over 80 entries to just four overall winners.

The winning entries – along with a selection of the shortlisted pieces that just missed out – have been brought to life in a wonderful book illustrated by artist Louise Marshall. The book is available to buy from the KIDS website and all proceeds go to the charity. Some of Louise’s illustrations have also been made into posters which can also be bought from the KIDS site.

The Globe

On Saturday 28 June we welcomed the worthy winners of the writing competition to a celebratory event at the world renowned Globe Theatre in London. We had a great time, going on a tour of Shakespeare’s Globe before enjoying food and drinks in recognition of the inspirational entries. It was fantastic to hear Rohan Collins' winning poem read aloud in such a historic setting.
