Spinal Injury Compensation Claims

Trustpilot

If you or a loved one has suffered a serious back or spinal cord injury, you’ll know how much life has changed. Our spinal injury solicitors can help you claim compensation to make things a little easier for you and your family.

Compensation can pay for important services to support your recovery or help you with everyday living, such as:

  • Adaptations to your home
  • Transport
  • Help with lost earnings and expenses
  • Private healthcare
  • Rehabilitation and therapy.

The majority of the spinal injury claims we handle are on a No Win No Fee basis. This means you don't need to worry about paying anything upfront and you won’t have to pay any legal fees if your claim isn’t successful*.

We can help if you’ve been in an accident that led you to suffer from paralysis or reduced mobility. Our lawyers have helped people whose spinal cord injuries were caused by falls from height, road traffic accidents, and accidents at work. We also help people who have developed Cauda Equina Syndrome after a spinal injury and suffered due to substandard medical care.

If you’ve suffered a spinal cord injury that wasn’t your fault our spinal injury lawyers could help you get your life back on track. We can also help you access specialist rehabilitation, care and support services through our client liaison team, who'll ensure that you make the best recovery possible.

For a free initial consultation about making your claim call us on 0800 056 4110 or contact us online.

Spinal Injury Claims - More Information
    • The Claims Process
    • We can discuss your injury and if you can make a claim in your free initial consultation. We’ll also chat about the different options that can be used to pay for your claim, such as a No Win No Fee agreement.

When we have all the information we need from you we’ll start gathering evidence to support your case. It’s likely that you’ll need to be examined by a medical expert who can advise us on the impact of your spinal injury and tell us what sort of treatment you’ll need to make the best recovery possible.

We’ll use all the information we gather to work out how much compensation you'll need. We'll ask those responsible for your spinal injury to accept fault and we’ll try to negotiate a settlement on your behalf. If this isn’t possible or if they deny responsibility for your injuries, we’ll take your claim to court. Even after we've done this, there's a good chance your claim will be settled before any court hearings take place.

    • How Long Do I Have To Make A Claim?
    • In general, claims need to be made within three years of the accident which caused your spinal injury. There are some exceptions to this rule:

      • You can claim on behalf of a child anytime before their 18th birthday. Once they turn 18 they'll have three years to make a claim.
      • There is no time limit if you're claiming on behalf of someone who doesn't have the mental capacity to claim for themselves. This changes if the person injured regains mental capacity, from which time they will have three years to make a claim.

If you have any concerns about the time limits for claiming compensation we’ll talk you through your options in a free initial consultation. Call us today on 0800 056 4110.

    • Our Spinal Injury Experts
    • Our high standard of work has meant that we’ve been recognised in the Spinal Injury Association’s directory, a resource listing trusted spinal injury solicitors, as well as the leading guides to the legal profession, Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.

As well as helping people secure the money and care they need, we work closely with charities and support groups to improve the standards of care available to people with spinal injuries.

To find out how our experts can help you and to set up your free initial consultation, call us today on 0800 056 4110.

    • No Win No Fee Spinal Injury Claims
    • Before your claim starts we’ll discuss the variety of funding options which are suitable for your case.

We'll most likely make your claim using a no win no fee agreement. If you win your case, your opponent will pay the majority of your legal costs. Any legal costs not paid by your opponent will be taken from the compensation that you receive.

If your case isn’t successful you won’t have to pay anything*.

Jason's Story

Father Walks Again Seven Years After Life Changing Car Accident jason-icon

Jason, 50, was cycling on holiday in Portugal when he was hit by a car. He suffered serious spinal injuries and the doctors told him that he would never walk again.

But now Jason can look forward to walking his daughters down the aisle despite the doctors’ predictions. Our expert solicitors have secured a settlement from his serious injury claim that’s paid for a high-tech exoskeleton, which lets him walk independently again. He’s even completed the Paris Half Marathon!

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is A Spinal Injury?

The spinal cord is made up of nerves which send messages that help us move, feel pressure and control vital functions such as breathing. Spinal injuries can be very serious and can result in paralysis in a number of limbs which can affect movement and sensation.

If the higher parts of the back are injured the consequences tend to be more serious, but the effects of a spinal cord injury are different for every person. Our lawyers will make sure your injuries are thoroughly assessed by specialist medical professionals so that we can provide the best plan for your recovery.

Spinal injuries can be caused in different ways. Some of the most common are:

  • Accidents at work
  • Road traffic accidents
  • Slip and trips
  • Falls from height
  • Accidents in public places
  • Sporting injuries
  • Accidents abroad.

In some cases, spinal injuries can also lead to Cauda Equina Syndrome, the compression of the nerves in your lower back, this is usually due to substandard medical care.

Spinal cord injury claims can be very complex and it’s important that we assess the full extent of your injuries in order to calculate the correct level of compensation. For example, paralysis isn’t always permanent so we'd need to leave time to see if any of your functions recover.

What Can Compensation Pay For?

If someone else is to blame for causing your spinal injury, we can help you claim compensation. The amount that you’ll receive will depend on a number of factors including the severity of your injuries, your future care needs and whether you’ll be able to return to your job.

We’ll collect the evidence we need to help us come to an amount of compensation we believe reflects:

  • Pain and suffering
  • Household adaptations
  • Loss of earnings
  • Healthcare costs
  • Rehabilitation and therapy needs
  • Expenses such as travel to and from medical appointments

If you have any questions about compensation and how it could help you, contact us free today on 0800 056 4110 or contact us online and we’ll call you back.
