Biography
I am an Associate in the Costs Management Team and the Manchester Costs Team leader. I qualified as a Costs Lawyer in 2007 and have been employed in the legal profession specifically in costs law for over 30 years.
I have been a board member of the Costs Lawyer Standards Board, for 6 years until March 2020 and before that a council member for the Association of Costs Lawyers.
What inspired you to get into law?
The opportunity to combine my love of figures with a passion for the law.
I had previously trained to become an accountant but didn’t find that inspired me. As the 30 years and counting in the legal profession demonstrates, I have found my passion.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Having the opportunity to work on the clients' behalf by recovering their costs from opponents.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I moved to Manchester to work for Irwin Mitchell and have been here for 10 years. I love the ethos and passion for service to our clients. We're all always looking for ways to drive that forward and make a difference, whatever our roles are.
What do you do away from the office?
I have 2 dogs, a miniature schnauzer, called Angel and a Labrador called Penny, plus 3 cats. I love going on holiday with the dogs and my husband.
I have family in Switzerland and America and try to spend time with them as often as possible.
I also like to spend my time with my daughter who also moved to Manchester with me and works for Irwin Mitchell.
