I joined the Irwin Mitchell costs team in 2015 and qualified as a Costs Lawyer in 2019 before being made an Associate in 2023. I sit within the costs budgeting team, preparing costs budgets for Court as well as advising clients on all stages of the costs budgeting process. I am regularly tasked with preparing the most complex costs budgets within the team, including large group litigation costs budgets.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Irwin Mitchell have always supported me in my career in terms of funding my professional qualification and allowing me to work flexibly with a young family. However, the biggest reason why I enjoy working at Irwin Mitchell is the people. There is a great team spirit within the business and I have made several friends for life here.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
I enjoy the satisfaction of doing a good job for the client which generally means achieving a good outcome at Court in relation to the costs budget hearing. I enjoy learning new skills such as advocacy as well as training junior members of staff. However, the most rewarding aspect of my job is nurturing, supporting, and helping junior members of the team fulfil their potential.
What inspired you to get into law?
I studied Politics at University, however upon leaving University, I joined Irwin Mitchell’s accounts department, and this is where I began being interested in the legal costs industry. I enjoy the arguments surrounding costs and I have always been good with numbers, therefore working in the law and specifically costs became a good fit.
What do you do away from the office?
Most of my time away from work is devoted to my young family. However, when I am able to I enjoy football, running and going to gigs. I am an avid Sheffield United fan and attend as many games as I possibly can!
