Biography
I am a solicitor working in the Court of Protection team. I am based in the Manchester office.
I assist clients who lack capacity in managing their financial affairs – my role is very varied and involves a lot of different things, but as an example, I often prepare applications for a deputy to be appointed on behalf of someone who lacks capacity; I assist the deputy with day-to-day management of the finances and ensuring that every decision taken is in the best interests of our client. My role also involves a lot of communication with other people assisting our client in their day-to-day life - be it with family members, case managers, or our litigation teams.
I also assist with the management of complex Professional Trusts for minor and those who have suffered injuries but retain some capacity to deal with their financial affairs.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
My colleagues are all so nice and make the job so much easier on a day-to-day basis. I feel like there is a strong culture at IM which is focused on delivering the best possible service for our clients and helping each other out to achieve that! Everyone has something they can bring to the table, and everyone is valued for who they are, which is really nice.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Building strong relationships with clients and their support systems.
What inspired you to get into law?
It actually took me quite a long time to decide I wanted to be a lawyer, but I always knew that I wanted to do a job where I could help people and make a difference (even if it is a small one) in their life.
What do you do away from the office?
I love travelling and exploring places all over the world to discover new cultures. I also enjoy learning new languages (although I am not that good at it!) I am a big music lover, so I am usually at a gig somewhere when not at work!
