Biography
I am a Paralegal in the Serious Injury team based in our Cambridge office. I have over 30 years' experience specialising in cases concerning complex, high value and catastrophic injuries. I assist the solicitors in my team, from the inception to the settlement of their cases. My approach is primarily client-focused, driven by ambition to improve lives. My fulfilment comes from witnessing our clients' progress throughout a case, from the early stages through to the settlement of the case.
Key Highlights
I predominantly prepare witness statements for clients, their family members and witnesses of accidents. The witness statement evidence is crucial and assists with supporting the clients' claim and its quantification.
In addition, I also am involved in Business Development activity, including organising an event for Brake (the Road Safety Charity providing support services for people bereaved and injured in road accident collisions) raising vital funds for their charity. I have also attended the Headway Suffolk Conference.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
The firm is very supportive in terms of its employees' progression, development and wellbeing. I work with some wonderful people, who are extremely dedicated to their work, clients and progression of all clients' cases.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
My fulfilment comes from witnessing clients' progress throughout a case, from the early stages to settlement, bolstered by the rehabilitation plans organised by the Serious Injury team.
Another rewarding aspect of my role is the feedback my team and I receive from clients and our contacts. I have received complimentary feedback from a Barrister instructed on one of our clients' cases commending me on the witness statements I had prepared, which he thought were compelling and he was very touched by them. The witness statement evidence inevitably led to the successful settlement of the client's claim.
What inspired you to get into law?
I have always had an interest in law. The company I was working for merged with Irwin Mitchell in 2014. I have a particular interest in complex and catastrophic injuries. I am dedicated to helping those who are going through some of the most challenging times of their lives and fighting to secure the best possible outcome for their future.
What do you do away from the office?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, travelling and taking long walks.
