Irwin Mitchell Advises On The Deal Which Safeguards 107 Year Old Company
A deal has been reached with administrators Philmore and Co to purchase historic Huddersfield firm Sellers Global Engineers who recently filed for administration.
The deal secures the future for one of the world’s leading manufacturers of textile finishing machinery which has operated in Huddersfield for 107 years.
A consortium of investors has been put together by Charlie Armitage of Sellers of America and will operate under the name of Sellers Textile Engineers. Robert Scaife of Innovative Automation, a systems integrator and Automation specialists in Dalton Georgia USA, brings a wealth of specialized technical knowledge to the board.
Charlie Armitage who has been running Sellers of America in the states for the past 25 years will undertake the role of Managing Director. David Armitage brought his vast experience to the negotiations and will join the board in an advisory role.
Charlie Armitage commented “A hiring drive has already started and will be ramped up in the coming weeks once prospective large orders have been secured.”
The Holding company of ETF Machinefabriek in The Netherlands, specialist in e.g. cutting, rolling, wrapping and material handling equipment for the floor-covering industry, represented by Ruud Koppens, completes the lineup as largest single investor.
Longstanding Sellers employees Neil Miller and Danny Chambers join the board and will fill technical and production roles respectively, next to their sales activities.
Tom Paton and Hal Roberts from Irwin Mitchell’s restructuring and insolvency team advised the administrator during the sales process.
