Irwin Mitchell has promoted two of its senior managers to new leadership roles within its market-leading personal injury division.

Louise Lumley is the new Chief Operating Officer while Tom Barker will become Director of Strategy, Change and Operations. Both roles are new to Irwin Mitchell and will work closely with the Managing Partners of the personal injury, court of protection and public law teams at the firm.

Both Tom and Louise joined Irwin Mitchell in 2014 as professional non-lawyer General Managers in the Complex PI dept. Prior to her move into the legal industry Louise had extensive experience in the insurance industry at businesses including Direct Line and Tom worked in engineering and pharmaceutical companies including GE.

Irwin Mitchell already delivers market-leading services to many thousands of individuals across the country. These two appointments recognise that delivery of legal services will continue to evolve. By overseeing the operations and future strategic plans we can continue to improve the service and experience we offer to our personal injury clients and Louise and Tom will play a major part in ensuring that Irwin Mitchell continues to extend its market leading position and continues to grow its client base.

Irwin Mitchell is rated as the best in the country for personal injury work by both the Legal 500 and Chambers UK independent guides to law.

“By Investing in these new senior leadership roles we will ensure that our wider personal injury business is best placed to maintain its position as the UK market-leader.

“Our clients’ expectations are changing all of the time and they will increasingly judge their experience with us against benchmarks set by their interactions with leading businesses and brands in other areas of their lives.

“To continue to meet and exceed those expectations we need to anticipate and listen to their needs, and deliver a consistent and high quality service.

“At Irwin Mitchell we have a strong track record of investing in a wide range of professionals who bring a broad range of skills and experience to our business. We are delighted to continue to recruit, and in this case promote, people from all backgrounds to ensure we have the best people leading our businesses, we don’t want to limit ourselves to just those with legal qualifications.”
