Irwin Mitchell has teamed up with the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) to deliver a series of master classes on the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The GDPR comes into force from 25 May 2018 and is applicable to all businesses who use personal data. Non-compliance can lead to potential fines of up to €20 million or 4% of annual worldwide turnover, whichever is bigger.

The full day workshops will be held at Irwin Mitchell’s offices in Glasgow on 26 September, London on 29 September and in Birmingham on 13 October.

Aimed at representatives with responsibility for managing data in their organisation, Irwin Mitchell partner and data protection expert, Joanne Bone, is the key note speaker at the events and will present alongside the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Joanne and her fellow experts will be leading sessions covering issues such as practical action plans for businesses to excel under the requirements of the GDPR, and a step-by-step guide to the data breach notification process.

The GDPR master classes represent an extension of the partnership that Irwin Mitchell has established with the CBI. Last year Irwin Mitchell supported CBI’s Unlocking Regional Growth campaign and has since been involved in several Brexit-related events in conjunction with Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth.

Irwin Mitchell also recently published a report in conjunction with YouGov which revealed that only 38% of senior decision makers are aware of GDPR.
