Welsh deaths linked to disease
Lawyers specialising in group actions have voiced concerns today after two people died and 14 were taken ill by a suspected Legionnaire’s outbreak in Wales.
The team from law firm Irwin Mitchell, who have represented a number of people affected by similar outbreaks across the UK have urged local authorities to do ‘everything in their power’ to find the source as soon as possible to prevent further suffering.
Gary Walker from the firm said: “We welcome the current investigation into the outbreak but hope that, in light of yet another death, more can be done to urgently find the source of the illness. Legionnaire’s Bacteria can be found in small quantities in water systems which can lead to an extremely dangerous illness which, as we are able to see from this outbreak, can be fatal.”
People are most likely to contract the disease after inhaling droplets of water containing the bacteria and early symptoms include muscle aches, dry coughs and headaches.
