Illness outbreak at Grand Hotel in Scarborough

On 2 April 2007 two more victims of an illness outbreak have come forward at one of Yorkshire's most famous hotel.

The North Yorkshire Health Protection Unit is currently investigating the Grand Hotel in Scarborough after complaints of virus from hotel residents of sickness and diarrhoea was been reported. So far more than 60 people have been affected.

The source of the outbreak has not yet been established, but residents complained that food and crockery in the dining area to be of low standard and the service in general to be poor.

The North Yorkshire Health Protection Unit has said: "There are still people ill with the virus but it is a reduced number and is under control. The hotel is monitoring the situation closely and taking advice from the unit and should know more by the mid week."
