We are delighted to be sponsoring Hannah Cockroft in her Paralympian year – holder of both
Paralympic and World records for 100m and 200m and a gold medal winner in both of these
distances as well as 400m and 800m!
Hannah epitomises our ‘Don’t Quit, Do It’ campaign, which launched in June 2015. During our many years helping people with spinal cord
injury and other serious injuries we have seen how sport has helped people. As well as the physical health benefits there are huge psychological
advantages in taking part in sport both for fun and competitively. At the heart of all of our legal work, is the desire to help people to regain a
decent quality of life after injury.
For Hannah, sport started out as a means of physiotherapy, which in turn made her stronger and reduced some of the difficulties caused by her
disability. Initially she exercised by swimming or dancing, but once she discovered wheelchair racing, at a Paralympic Talent day, there was no
stopping her. Having won gold medals in all her events at the Doha World Championships in October 2015, Hannah has secured her place on the
British Paralympic team for Rio in 2016.
We wish her all the very best and we shall be cheering her on in all of her events in Rio. She is a fantastic role model for anyone who is either born
with a disability or acquires one later in life. As she says, “We can do anything we set our minds to really”.
