An inspirational evening of celebrating Women in Spinal Cord Injuries who transform patients lives on a daily basis, took place in early June at the Botanical Gardens, Birmingham. Irwin Mitchell was proud to be a sponsor of the Spinal Injury Association’s inaugural WISCI Awards.
The WISCI awards recognised the outstanding women who contribute to the treatment and care of spinal cord injured people across the UK, as well as celebrating the achievements of spinal cord injured people and law professionals. The glamorous and humbling ceremony was hosted by Gary Lineker, who along with his wife Danielle, has been a long term supporter of the SIA.
Three shortlisted nominees, for each award category, were invited to attend the event along with representatives from the event sponsors. The winners of all 16 awards were announced in turn by other SIA celebrity ambassadors, such as Joe McGann, Josie Pearson, Lucy Gannon and Anna Turney.
Elaine Russell, partner and serious injury specialist at Irwin Mitchell’s Glasgow office, presented The Stephen Bradshaw award for Women in Spinal Cord Injury to Karen O'Donnell, from Stoke Mandeville SCIC and commented:
“Irwin Mitchell are thrilled to have been involved in the WISCI Awards and the SIA are to be congratulated on such a well run and successful evening. It was truly an inspirational evening with a rapt audience throughout celebrating the outstanding women who have helped transform the lives of people coming to terms with a spinal cord injury with innovation, professionalism and passion. Many congratulations to all of the winners and those shortlisted.”
