Staff at the Newcastle office put on their (for many, dusty) running kits and took part in the Chronicle Sunshine Fund’s annual 5k race along the picturesque Newcastle Quayside on Wednesday 26 June.
This year’s race, which was sponsored by Irwin Mitchell, was launched by Paralympian and Patron of the Sunshine Fund, Stephen Miller and saw nearly 300 runners from all abilities taking part, all raising money for the Sunshine Fund, which provides specialised equipment to children with disabilities in the North East of England.
Throughout June, Irwin Mitchell’s Newcastle office have also been supporting the Sunshine Fund’s ‘Go Banana’s’ appeal, which raised over £24,000 in the space of one month through the generous support of various companies and communities within the North East.
Karen Robinson, business development executive, was among the runners taking part for Irwin Mitchell.
She said: “The team at Irwin Mitchell were thrilled to be sponsoring this year’s Sunshine Run and
were really excited about helping raise funds for such a fantastic charity.
“Having seen first-hand the great work that the Sunshine Fund do, I understand how important it is for the children around the region get the support they need to live an independent life.
“The team loved taking part in the Sunshine Run and we all had a fantastic night.”
“The Sunshine Fund team’s enthusiasm is infectious and I have loved working with them over the last seven months.
“We hope the funds we raise will make a huge difference to the lives of children with disabilities in the North East.”
