Irwin Mitchell’s Commercial Team Advises On Deal
The Manchester office of law firm Irwin Mitchell has advised Newson Health Research & Education on a publishing deal with FourteenFish, the specialist learning and CPD platform for doctors.
Headed by Dr Louise Newson, a GP and menopause specialist, Newson Health was established to allow women to receive unbiased, evidence-based advice and treatment for their perimenopause and menopause.
The organisation has created menopause and wellbeing centres, in Stratford-upon-Avon and the North West, to be centres of excellence providing care to women of all ages.
FourteenFish is a leading educational platform for healthcare professionals. It was founded in 2012 with the aim of offering doctors, including GPs, a better way of accessing educational content, recording CPD and performing appraisals.
The company, with a membership of fifty thousand healthcare professionals across the UK and internationally, has signed the deal which will see Newson Health become an Education Content Provider on the platform.
Dr Louise Newson said: “Sadly, very few healthcare professionals receive adequate training in the menopause despite the menopause affecting all women. There are real health risks associated with the menopause including a higher future risk of heart disease and osteoporosis, so it is essential that all healthcare professionals have access to evidence-based information. This menopause education programme will really help to fill this gap. The future health of so many women will benefit from this work, so we are very excited!”
Dr Louise Newson, who is an advisor to NHS England, is currently involved with some ground-breaking research looking at how menopausal women taking hormone replacement therapy may have increased protection from Covid-19.
