Nicola Bushby Welcomed To Firm
Leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell has recruited a new partner to its Will, Trust and Estate Disputes team in London.
Nicola Bushby joins the firm from Wilsons Solicitors, having qualified in 2012 after being called to the Bar in 2004. Nicola is an expert in all things relating to people’s capacity and mental health and how these impact on their private legal affairs; a number of the cases she has worked on in the High Court and Court of Protection have been reported.
Nicola acts for high-net-worth individuals, advising and representing them in complex private wealth disputes, including contentious wills and multi-jurisdictional inter-family matters involving trusts and asset tracing.
She also acts on behalf of attorneys, deputies and family members on Court of Protection matters involving high-value estates and businesses. Nicola is well-versed on helping family members with how they can help support a vulnerable loved one manage their wealth, including helping to identify cases of financial abuse.
The London Will, Trust and Estates Disputes team has steadily grown since head of the London team Claire-Marie Cornford joined the firm in 2017. Since then she has developed the team to include an associate, solicitor and trainee solicitor. Nicola’s arrival brings the headcount to five.
Paula Myers, national head of the Will, trust and Estates Disputes team at Irwin Mitchell, said: “I am delighted to be welcoming Nicola to the London team, whose arrival marks an exciting new chapter for the team.
“Nicola’s joint expertise in private client and Court of Protection disputes adds another string to our bow while also adding to the expertise of our national team, which is one of the largest in the country for handling will, trust and estate disputes. Her experience will also be invaluable to our national Tax, Trusts and Estates team.
“Claire-Marie has done an excellent job in building our team in London and laying down strong foundations, so Nicola’s arrival shows the team, both in London and nationally, is going from strength to strength.”
