£420,000 Set For Good Causes Across The Country
Charities across the UK are set to share a big cash boost, after staff at a national law firm raised almost £420,000 for good causes as part of their 2019 Charity of the Year programme.
Colleagues at Irwin Mitchell regional offices smashed their previous fundraising best by £136,000 with a year of fundraising, including baking, knitting and walking, to football, abseiling and climbing plus a host of other volunteering activities.
The firm’s Charities of the Year programme has donated just under £2.5 million to good causes in the UK via the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF) which was established as an independent charity in 1997.
Every year, Irwin Mitchell employees in the firm’s 14 offices nominate the charity or good cause they wish to support in the year as part of the IMCF Charities of the Year programme. Some regional offices defied all fundraising expectations, with one recording a fourfold increase on 2018.
The charities set to benefit represent a snapshot of the UK’s most deserving causes. From the SARSAS rape and sexual assault centre in Bristol to The Teenage Cancer Trust in Glasgow; from hospices to support groups, the cash is set to transform services in local communities.
