Law Firm Of The Year Nomination Follows Year Of Investment

Irwin Mitchell has been shortlisted as a finalist in the UK Law Firm of the Year category at the prestigious Music Week Awards.

The Music Week Awards will take place on 6 May 2020 at Battersea Evolution in London and are the UK's only music awards that recognise labels, publishing, live, retail, A&R, radio, marketing and PR. The awards are attended by over 1,000 people in the music industry and are peer-voted and judged by an independent panel of specialist judges. 

Irwin Mitchell’s Media and Entertainment (M&E) team, which has a strong music law focus, comprises of six lawyers including three partners and two senior associates. 

Its music law offering has been in a period of growth since Aurelia Butler-Ball joined in 2015. Aurelia started her career at Universal Music before working in a leading boutique music practice advising high profile artists including Emeli Sandé.

This growth accelerated in 2019 when partner, Laura Harper joined. Prior to joining us, Laura established and led the Legal 500 Tier 1 ranked M&E practice of Shoosmiths in Manchester.

Recent projects that the Irwin Mitchell team has been involved with include advising British grime artist Lady Leshurr on major commercial deals with Olay and Skoda.

The team also produces strong thought leadership on key areas of the industry, regularly speaking at music industry events and to music students including Universities and Colleges such as BIMM.
