Irwin Mitchell Sheffield Office Raise £22,411 For Weston Park Cancer Charity
Colleagues from the Sheffield office of Irwin Mitchell have raised £22,411 for their 2019 Charity of the Year by completing a 15 mile sponsored walk round the city; plus the 25 mile Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, all in aid of the Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Rain soaked streets didn’t dampen the spirits of 99 colleagues, who raised £18,756 during their ‘Walking 9 to 5’ event. Another 20 members of the IT team battled through snow and hail to add £3,655 by conquering the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
Together, the Irwin Mitchell teams covered 2,000 miles in aid of Weston Park Cancer Charity, which aims to raise £2 million a year to improve the lives of those living with cancer. Funds raised by Irwin Mitchell will be used to support the hospital’s full range of work and assist with plans to transform four specialist suites to boost patient comfort.
Weston Park was nominated by Sheffield office staff to be their Charity of the Year as part of the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF) programme. Established in 1997, the IMCF is an independent registered charity which has donated more than £2 million to good causes throughout the UK and £284,000 in 2018 alone.
Irwin Mitchell marketing executive, Abigail Clarke, who was one of the organisers of ‘Walking 9 to 5’, said: “To see so many colleagues take part and to exceed our £10,000 target by such a huge margin is fantastic. The weather didn’t make things easy, but the day was such a success that it’s likely to be a regular fixture on our fundraising calendar. We literally went that extra mile and gave our 2019 fundraising total an amazing boost.”
In 2018, the Sheffield office raised £55,184 for Roundabout, securing the future of the local youth homeless charity’s Peer Education Programme until 2021. More events are planned as the Irwin Mitchell team aim to beat this fundraising figure for Weston Park in 2019.
