Charity Support Blossoms In The North East For Survivors Of Brain Injury

The Newcastle office of Irwin Mitchell has seen its support for a charity in the North East blossom, after attending the grand opening of a new sensory garden sponsored by the firm and then seeing the project feature on episode 11 of BBC Gardeners World.

The sensory garden is just one of the projects of Headway Darlington & District, a local charity providing services and activities for brain injury survivors, their families and their carers. Some of the people supported by the charity are able to help out in the garden, as part of the regular activities they do to aid their own therapy.

For the last few years, the Newcastle office of Irwin Mitchell has been supporting Headway with funding, including sponsorship of the new garden. Led by Alastair Elliot, a personal injury solicitor in the serious injury team, Irwin Mitchell were able to provide funds to purchase a bench for the garden, with some of the team attending the garden’s grand opening.

With the BBC in attendance, plus Alastair Elliot and Kate Tomaney representing Irwin Mitchell, Headway members and trustees were able to explain more to Gardeners World presenters Joe Swift and Flo Headlam about the charity’s work and how the garden helps Headway members.
