Irwin Mitchell’s Local Office Nominates Its New Charity of the Year

A charitable fund operated by The Christie hospital in Manchester is set for a fundraising boost after colleagues at the local office of Irwin Mitchell nominated it to become their Charity of the Year for 2019.

The national law firm’s annual charity initiative sees staff in 13 of its offices take part in a vote to select a good cause which they can support through both voluntary work and fundraising events.

It is part of work undertaken by the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF), an independent charity founded in 1997 which has raised more than £1.8 million for charities in the UK and abroad.

This year, the firm’s Manchester office has voted to give its support to The Christie charity, which works to provide enhanced care and treatment services to patients over and above what the NHS can fund.

One of the largest hospital charities in the UK, The Christie charity ensures that 83p of every pound that it receives goes to patients. The funds raised by the organisation are used towards projects and initiatives in four main areas – research, care and treatment, education and extra patient services.
