Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation Smash £2m Donation Milestone
- £284,000 raised for Irwin Mitchell’s 13 Charities of the Year 2018
- The Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation has now donated over £2m to good causes since 1997
- £95,000 more raised through Charity of the Year programme than in 2017
Employees of the national law firm Irwin Mitchell are celebrating after raising £284,000 for good causes around the UK, through their Charities of the Year programme during 2018.
The latest fundraising drive means that the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF) has now donated over £2m to good causes in the UK and abroad, since it was founded as an independent charity, in 1997.
Employees nominated and voted for good causes near each of the firm’s 13 UK offices to become their Charities of the Year for 2018, as part of a nationwide initiative developed with the IMCF.
Following 12 months of fundraising activities including a talent show, themed charity ball, sleep out, fire walks, sky dives, dragon boat racing and climbing at over 2,000ft, the law firm has raised is largest amount to date through the Charities of the Year programme.
In doing so, the majority of the firm’s regional offices have smashed their own fundraising records in the process.
The IMCF was also able to double the amount raised by Irwin Mitchell employees during 2018, and added a ‘super top up’ of £54,000 to celebrate reaching the £2m milestone, which helped boost the total.
Organisations such as hospices, arts and riding schools for people with disabilities, homeless and dementia charities are among the good causes set to benefit from the bumper round of donations.
Stuart Henderson, who sits on the firm’s Executive Board and chairs Irwin Mitchell’s Social Responsibility Board said he was taken aback by the generosity of colleagues.
