Specialist Asbestos-Related Disease Lawyers At Irwin Mitchell Have Been Instructed To Investigate Man’s Asbestos Exposure
The widow of a former Manchester club singer from Blackley, who died after being diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, has joined with specialist lawyers to call on his ex-colleagues to come forward and help her in her bid for justice.
Frank Corley, originally from Blackley, died on 5 September 2016, aged 76. Prior to his death, Frank had been suffering from asbestosis, a chronic inflammatory disease caused by exposure to asbestos decades ago which affects lung tissue and increases the risk of developing certain asbestos related diseases such as mesothelioma.
Jean, Frank’s widow, has instructed specialist asbestos-related disease lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to investigate her husband’s exposure to asbestos. She has recalled to her legal team that Frank had numerous industrial jobs throughout the 1960s, 70s and 80s, although she cannot remember exact employers.
Dominic Hemsi, the legal expert at Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office who is representing Jean, said:
Frank, who has three adult children from his previous marriage, had been married to Jean for 31 years prior to his death. The couple lived in Wilmslow where Frank worked as a taxi driver before retiring in 2000 due to ill health.
Jean said: “Frank’s death devastated everyone in the family. He was much-loved and the family all miss him daily. I know I am still trying to get over the fact he is now gone.
“Moving from Blackley meant Frank lost touch with his former workmates, so sadly we were not in contact with anyone when he first became ill.
“Looking back, it was horrible to see how the illness affected him and I would be hugely grateful if anybody who did work with him was able to get in touch and provide information to help us understand how he came to fall ill.”
