Members Of The Community Can Access Help On Variety Of Issues
Lawyers at Irwin Mitchell are continuing their partnership with an Irish charity to offer free legal advice to members of the community.
The law firm’s Birmingham office partnered with Birmingham Irish Association in 2013 to run monthly advice sessions.
The clinics, managed by Caroline Brogan, a Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, take place at the Association’s base at St Anne’s Parish Centre, in Alcester Street, Digbeth, on the last Thursday of each month, between 2pm and 4pm.
Expert Opinion
My grandad, John Brogan, emigrated from Foxford, County Mayo, at the age of 19, and settled in Coventry. I am very proud that I am in a position to help people gain access to legal services.
“Since the clinics were started five-years-ago they have proven to be very successful and have been used by hundreds of people.
“Irwin Mitchell is proud to be working with Birmingham Irish Association to hold the advice sessions and we look forward to welcoming those who need support to the clinics.” Caroline Brogan - Senior Associate Solicitor
Volunteer lawyers will attend the centre each month and will be able to advise on a variety of legal issues, including medical negligence, buying and selling property, family disputes, employment matters, personal injury claims and making a will.
General advice can be provided where the issue falls within the advisor’s area of expertise, but advisors are happy to discuss legal queries of any nature with clients and to help them to decide whether the advice of a specialist lawyer is required.
Birmingham Irish Association provides advice and support services that meet the welfare and cultural needs of the Irish community in Birmingham. Services provided include welfare advice, extensive information service, ancestry tracing, alcohol and substance misuse advice, family support and passport and pensions advice.
Advisors can also put clients in touch with relevant specialists or more suitable organisations, if they do not require a lawyer.
Maurice Malone, Chief Executive of the Birmingham Irish Association said: “We are committed to enhancing the lives of our clients and these advice sessions are proof of this.
“We thank Irwin Mitchell for their continued backing in helping the Association to be the service of choice for all Irish people seeking advice, support and information.”
