Energy Giant Retains Its ‘Highly Effective Panel’ Of Law Firms

FTSE 100 energy company, National Grid, has announced that Irwin Mitchell’s position on its legal panel has been extended for another two years.

Irwin Mitchell secured its position on the panel in 2015 as part of a comprehensive restructuring which resulted in the number of firms on National Grid’s roster being reduced from 17 to 12. Irwin Mitchell was at the time one of three new additions made during the review.

The recent decision to extend the panel until 2019 was made by Alison Kay, group general counsel & company secretary, Mohammed Ajaz, general counsel and head of professional services and Rachael Davidson, National Grid’s UK general counsel.

Speaking to The Lawyer magazine, Alison Kay said: “This is the right decision for us at this point in time. We procured a highly effective panel in 2015 and we have a large workload ahead of us over the coming 12 months.

“We continue to work closely with our law firms, driving efficiencies to improve ways of working and, having reviewed the alternatives, we believe that the current panel is the right one to support us at this time.”
